Letter to the editor: Trump and Hitler? No comparison.

Tribune-Review

As one whose parents were Jewish Holocaust survivors, I am offended by those writers and political pundits who use references to Hitler and Nazism as an anti-Trump talking point (Republicans following orders,” Sept. 3, TribLive). By doing so they negate the actual horrors of those who suffered under the Nazi regime.

Adolf Hitler invaded 11 nations. After invading Poland, Hitler’s troops would seek out Jews who had lived there peacefully for centuries and murder men, women and children in their homes or march them to be shot into mass graves. Eventually, the Nazis found more efficient ways of killing with gas chambers. Hitler brutally enslaved, tortured or murdered millions throughout the nations he invaded as a means for ethnic cleansing.

The acronym “Nazi” refers to the National Socialist Workers Party. President Trump is an avowed anti-socialist. Trump has negotiated to help end conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Iran and Israel, Egypt and Ethiopia, Thailand and Cambodia, Rwanda and Congo, India and Pakistan, Kosovo and Serbia, and hopefully soon between Ukraine and Russia. His policies of deporting dangerous illegal criminal aliens, securing our border, implementing law and order in our cities, imposing tariffs for fair trade, etc., in no way compare to Hitler except as his antithesis.
