Letter to the editor: Trump diverting our attention from his failures

Tribune-Review

As covid-19 continues to spiral out of control across the country, President Trump runs ads portraying himself as the “law and order” president. He sends faux-military people without identification and without marked vehicles to nab and detain journalists and protesters from the streets of America, similar to when police in D.C. cleared protesters so Trump could use the Bible as a prop for a photo op.

It is evident to me that Trump is again deflecting attention away from his disastrous failure to heed early warnings from our intelligence and epidemiologists that covid-19 was coming. So it became the Trump virus as 157,000-plus Americans are dead. Trump canceled the GOP convention in Florida because covid-19 is raging, but insists schools be reopened. Do kids’ lives matter?

This “law and order” president has vilified the FBI, in my opinion because it exposed his campaign contacts with Russia. He called the Mueller investigation a hoax, but it resulted in 34 indictments, including six former Trump advisers. Trump has pardoned tax and Medicaid fraudsters, arsonists, racketeers, campaign finance cheaters, court order violators and liars. Law and order guy he is not!

I believe Trump is using these faux-military people to divert attention from his failure to keep us safe from covid-19. Americans are smart, and we see right through Trump’s twisted games. Let’s hope he doesn’t get anyone on the streets killed. His failure with covid-19 is killing enough of us.
