Letter to the editor: Trump lost because of Trump

President Trump stated that if he lost, it would be because the election was rigged, beginning to sow the seeds of distrust. Following that logic, Democrats who lost also can claim the same. Yet many Republicans won their elections. If it was rigged, it should have been rigged down the ballot. You can’t have it both ways.

Trump brags that he won the most Republican votes in history. True, but Joe Biden won the most votes of a Democratic candidate with over 7 million over Trump. Why is that?

Trump has spent five years disrespecting, insulting and lying about so many groups of people, including many ethnic groups. He has ruined the reputations of government employees and removed many from office. He has muzzled the CDC. He has trashed the Constitution, FBI, CIA, Justice Department, Supreme Court and judges of both parties.

Trump is so bad that many Republicans left their party or did not vote for him.

Cruelty — the separation of immigrant children from their parents is one of the biggest stains on the U.S. after slavery. Hundreds of children will never know who their parents are because they were too young and because the Trump administration did not keep track of them.

Trump alienated more people than he added to his base. This is why Biden won.
