Letter to the editor: Trump not the threat to democracy
Threat to democracy? A riot redefined as an insurrection does not qualify. The real threat is a government that dictates your life. You’re told what car to buy, what appliances are acceptable and how to heat your home. A real threat is frivolous and unconstitutional legal action against political opponents.
It is pre-dawn armed raids on nonviolent political opponents. It is using redacted search warrants. It is media that has abandoned unbiased reporting. It is the proposed Department (Ministry) of Truth. Further signs are the disregard of Supreme Court decisions and the wanton proliferation of executive orders and regulations to bypass Congress.
All these describe to me the Biden-Harris administration. They do not describe President Trump, or his four years in office. Who is the real threat to democracy?
The presidency has cost the Trump family over $1 billion plus extreme anguish. Yet he still wants to be president. By contrast, the Biden family has reaped hundreds of millions during Biden’s political career. Add to this the threats to our nation, unsecure borders, an inane energy and economic policy and a failing foreign policy.
Trump may be crude and even obnoxious, but he is genuinely working for the good of the country. He works continuously. Biden projects the nice guy image and, in my opinion, is smooth but oily. He has nice words (when ghost written) and worked 10 to 4. Vice President Kamala Harris is/was in lockstep with Biden’s policies and must take ownership of that record. She has no record of her own.
