Letter to the editor: Trump on Presidential Records Act

The Presidential Records Act states that, the moment the president leaves office, the National Archives shall have custody and control of all presidential records. Nothing in the act states that there should be prolonged talks or a negotiated agreement between a former president and the National Archives over return of presidential documents taken from the White House, much less that there should have been a monthslong battle after the National Archives contacted the Trump team to try and have records returned that legally should have been returned at the end of his presidency.

When will America finally see through all the grift, lies and bullying? Do you remember when he said he could walk down Fifth Avenue in New York and shoot someone, and nothing would happen to him? Or when he said he could grab women by the private parts because he is famous? Or when he said about the supposedly “stolen” election that many of the dozens of judges who said there was no evidence of fraud were corrupt? He seated many of those judges.

Trump has been impeached twice, indicted twice, found liable for sexual abuse and is facing trial for taking government secrets to his home and golf resort. He is probably going to be indicted for inciting the Jan. 6 riots and for trying to tamper with votes in Georgia. Do you really want a person like this to be our next president? Please look up the Presidential Records Act for yourself, and I think you will understand that he is lying to you.
