Letter to the editor: Trump 'the chosen one'

Tribune-Review

In response to Bob Serena’s letter “Trump is protecting our country” (April 9, TribLIVE): I guess he forgot about a few things.

President Trump is a great businessman, but his companies had to file bankruptcy six times.

He couldn’t join the military because of bone spurs. Really?

His words: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.” “… when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’em by the (expletive). You can do anything.”

Trump said the late Sen. John McCain was “not a war hero” and “I like people that weren’t captured.”

He said Mexico would pay for the wall.

How can Americans respect a bully who calls people names and makes fun of people with disabilities, who pays off a porn star to keep quiet?

He has told more than 16,000 documented lies. When the truth is reported, he often calls it “fake news.”

Every past president willingly showed his tax returns. Why won’t Trump?

Trump disbanded the Global Health Security and Biodefense unit responsible for pandemic preparedness in 2018. He has said President Obama’s cupboards were bare when it came to medical supplies for a pandemic. So why didn’t Trump, in almost four years, do something about it? Early on he dismissed the seriousness of covid-19, even though he was warned about it in November.

We must not forget what he said on live TV: “I am the chosen one.”

I guess we should say “Trump bless America” instead of “God bless America.”
