Letter to the editor: Trump's leadership will cost us
For weeks hospitals, doctors, nurses, first responders and caregivers have been clamoring for masks, shields, gowns and other personal protective equipment. Yet, day in and day out at his daily coronavirus press briefings, President Trump has been touting how many “millions and millions” of masks and respirators are being produced and distributed.
After watching Trump’s briefing on April 6, with all his bravado, chest-beating, misleading information, berating of reporters and, in my opinion, total lack of leadership, one thing is abundantly clear: It is a classic case of “the emperor has no clothes” that has resulted in the death of some Americans and probably “thousands and thousands” more.
I believe Trump is too defensive, irrational, unprepared, bullying and opinionated to give such briefings. After he completes his monologue at the briefings and opens the room up to questions, the reporters should just not ask the president any questions. Let him leave the briefing room with his head between his legs, and then hear from the experts with information based on science and studies.
