What legacy is the Trump administration leaving for our grandchildren?

It appears Trump and his cronies place today’s profits above concerns for our future. It began in 2017 with tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%, continued with dismantling the Clean Water Act, abolishing workers rights and withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement. These actions helped Trump’s benefactors make their America “great again” while jeopardizing future health and economy. That was before covid-19!

While Americans focused upon covid-19, Trump’s EPA gutted the Clean Water Act and rolled back clean air standards for coal-fired plants and other polluters. Aside from Trump’s ruthless health and environmental assaults, his Cares Act provided a tax cut providing 80% of the tax benefits to those making over $1 million a year. Additional benefits went to real estate businesses (like the Trump dynasty).

Even now, as we transition to reopen the country, economics and reelection seem to override American health and safety. Our grandchildren will bear the cost of Trump’s profiteering. Their health will suffer from polluting poisons while their prosperity is squelched by astronomical national debt. Is this the future you want to leave your grandchildren?
