Letter to the editor: Turned away at polls
I went to vote after work on Election Day. I could have gone straight home or to Sheetz (“Not voting squanders basic birthright of America,” May 22, TribLIVE), but I had a chance to make a change in our government and our school board. As I gave my name to the ladies at the polling booth, I was told I could not vote because I am registered as independent. I choose my candidates based on their ideas, not by their party affiliation.
Next time you want to collect my taxes, I am going to say, “Sorry, I’m on my way to buy a sandwich at Sheetz. At least there I won’t get turned away.”
