Let’s see … our state leadership decided to close all “nonessential” businesses to fight the coronavirus (including the state-run liquor stores). However, grocery stores selling wine and beer and beer distributors were deemed “essential.” What is the difference? Oh, right — the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) employees, who continue to be paid, are mostly members of a powerful government employees union. They are deemed non-essential, but not the hard-working grocery store employees.
Also, in response to complaints about the closures, the PLCB rolled out an online order portal that directs the user to visit in a few days due to overwhelming demand. Sounds like the last federal administration’s health care fiasco!
