Letter to the editor: United against Trump
The writer of the letter “America needs unity, not protest” (July 2, TribLive) called for unity in our country and an end to protests. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. The president he would like us to unify around refers to people like me, my family and friends as “scum” and says that the leaders I support are lunatics.
I’ve lost my job and retirement since he took office, along with thousands of decent people I worked with. Institutions that have long served to keep us informed, free and safe are being gutted. My loved ones are afraid for themselves and the future.
So no, there won’t be any playing nice, getting on board, loyal opposition or anything like that. I’m in unity only with those who oppose and resist everything that this administration is doing and will do what I can to get these corrupt and racist authoritarians out of power.
