As a health care provider and daughter to a Pennsylvania senior, I believe we both have met the criteria for Phase 1A of the covid-19 vaccine rollout in the state. It has been frustrating and time consuming as well as disturbing that the flow of vaccine administration has been less than accommodating for our health care workers and seniors in the Keystone State.

I speak for many who are severely frustrated with the registration process and inability to register either themselves or family and friends for the shot(s). Many of our health care workers have put their lives on the line daily, and our seniors deserve to be treated with sincere concern and respect. They should not be passed over or overtaxed with the complexity of the registration process, nor should they be put at unnecessary risk for potential exposure to the virus. The need to have them sit back and wait seems very unfair, when it has been reported that many school districts in the area have received vaccinations for their employees — groups that clearly are not meeting the definition of the state guidelines for Phase 1A.

We need to establish some type of registry within the counties for a more systematic approach to the proper administration of the vaccine and to be sure we are placing those shots into the arms of the folks who need it most.
