Letter to the editor: Vaccine rollout failure shows need for competent candidates
Many times we have been let down by our public officials, but this vaccine rollout is their responsibility and their absolute failure.
When candidates seek public office, they proclaim their desire to solve public issues; but instead of taking time to anticipate, investigate and address the issues, they quickly perfect the “blame game” technique. The states pass the buck to the feds, and the locals have the option to blame either. We must realize the buck has been passed as far as it can go, leaving us trying to get a vaccination on our own. That makes me feel like I am working through a maze blindfolded.
We must accept the responsibility of safeguarding our own lives and the health of our community. We have been left with the responsibility, but given no power to do so.
So let’s make sure we are responsible where we can — in the voting booth.
Let’s make sure to vote, and make sure we’re voting for competent candidates, ones who want to be responsible leaders. Let’s make qualifications, not party affiliation, religious conviction or a single issue, be the reason a candidate secures our vote.
