We should be very saddened that the proposed community center in Vandergrift has been temporarily suspended due to lack of commitment from the Kiski Valley community. We have asked many residents and business and church leaders to step up as board members, but to no avail.

The consensus of the community is that a community center is a much needed facility. But in order to move forward with this project, the community itself must step up and volunteer their time and talent. We are seeking board members — no experience required, just a willingness to help the youth, seniors and all residents of our community.

Community centers play a crucial role in the development and well-being of local communities. From educational initiatives to recreational activities, community centers provide a space for people of all ages to come together, learn and grow.

We need the community and business and religious leaders to step up and make this proposed community center a reality.
