Letter to the editor: Venom of Marxism

Tribune-Review

It is difficult to imagine the venomous spawn of philosopher Karl Marx rearing its evil head in New York City’s mayoral race. For Christians, despite the 20th century being the bloodiest of all previous centuries combined, have been slowly embracing the reason for that bloodshed, Marx. Marxism is an atheistic philosophy grounded not in transcendent truth but in materialism.

The government now provides for the charitable needs of society. Food by the Department of Agriculture. Health care by the Affordable Care Act. Housing by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Now we have a New York City mayor-elect prepared to codify and enforce government’s march into everyday life, e.g., rent control, food price control, etc. Even the trains will run on time!

The Catholic Church used to be the bulwark of charity, e.g., orphanages, hospitals, schools/universities. However, this began to unravel in the 1960s with the avowed Marxist, Saul Alinsky. Priests and religious flocked to Chicago studying at the feet of Alinsky. They replaced God with godless atheism and the church with community organizing. Seminaries, monasteries and convents emptied and closed. Catholic parents, educators, school board members, administrators, attorneys and judges ensured our children would learn in an atheistic godless system with the mythical separation of church and state.

The venom of Marxism has been allowed to slowly saturate the grounding of most institutions, where incorporating God, except within the four walls of churches on Sunday, into society yields at best a rebuke and at worse a bullet.
