Letter to the editor: Vote for those who support life, freedom

Tribune-Review

Since its beginning, the moral standard of American society has been based on faith and family values, and that all people have certain unalienable rights endowed by our creator (per our Declaration of Independence). George Washington stated that “Religion and morality are the essential pillars of civil society.” Other founders stated similarly. The Constitution guarantees religious liberty, but does not call for the removal of God from schools and public places.

Over the past 50-60 years — as the Marxist, atheistic seeds of socialism began to take root (Remember “God is dead”?) — academia, media, Hollywood and, more recently, big tech seem to believe that they are now the source of moral standards. And unfortunately, many have bought in.

There’s little doubt that increases in broken marriages and families, drug addiction, violence in cities and schools, sexual abuse, suicide, widespread abortion, and other bad outcomes result from the shift away from faith in God and family values.

Unfortunately, this leftward shift is where the Democratic Party has moved. Joe Biden now supports abortion and taxpayer funding thereof, because “times have changed.” This year, 41 Democratic senators precluded passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Unconscionable.

We need to vote for the candidates who support pro-life causes, freedom of religion and religious rights, and resuming the American way that has made this country the greatest nation in the history of the world — one nation, under God.
