In his column “Are today’s leftists truly Marxists?” (Aug. 14, TribLIVE), Walter Williams claimed that Karl Marx, a man of Jewish heritage, was a racist and an anti-Semite. Marx lived from 1818-83. This is very interesting, since at this same time in American history, Williams’ own race of people were enslaved for free labor by a capitalistic system. I think this is called hypocrisy.

In 1972, Williams graduated from UCLA with a Ph.D. in economics. If he wanted to move to New York City and start a new life, his buddy Donald Trump probably wouldn’t even have rented to him because he was Black.

As far as communism is concerned, I think there is only one politician (who happens to be a Republican) who is affiliated with the Communist Party: Donald Trump, since he seems to be as thick as thieves with a Vladimir Putin.

Maybe, it’s time for Williams to tell his economics students at George Mason University the whole story. I know he knows it.
