Letter to the editor: We all need reliable energy
Regarding the letter “Hydrogen blending not the answer” (Nov. 4, TribLIVE): It is a simple fact that our homes, businesses and industries rely on a dependable supply of energy to satisfy basic needs, drive economic growth and advance our society.
That is why, as we plan our path forward, we must ensure that Americans from across the economic spectrum have equal access to this energy, and that this energy is produced in a way that protects the planet by using ecologically sound energy sources such as wind, solar, renewable natural gas, hydrogen and other new sources.
Efforts to accomplish this are underway across the country. In our region, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is exploring innovative ways to reduce emissions using hydrogen and other emerging technologies.
Through a multi-phase hydrogen blending project at its Monaca training center, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania aims to better understand the effects and opportunities of controlled blending of hydrogen into the natural gas system.
The bottom line is that natural gas remains an essential part of today’s energy mix, ensuring that users have uninterrupted access to affordable energy as new technologies come online.
Individual consumers need reliable energy to heat their homes and cook their meals, and commercial enterprises require dependable energy to conduct their operations.
