Rearding Susan Nease’s letter “Biden deserves same chance Trump got” (Dec. 6, TribLIVE) responding to my letter “Give Biden a chance” (Nov. 29, TribLIVE): First, I am a registered Democrat. Second, I voted for Donald Trump in 2016, hoping an outsider would shake things up. Which he did.
I was hoping that with Trump’s business background, he could reduce the deficit and make the government run more efficiently. He has done neither. I gave him a chance.
Nease wrote, “Let’s look for any dirt we can find on him and smear his name,” referring to how the Democrats treated Trump. He was an easy target because of his false claims, poor judgment and lies. His first lie was before he was even in office for a week, when he lied about the size of the crowd attending his inauguration. He lied about tariffs that would protect us, but instead cost us money and jobs.
Trump’s vision almost was completely one-sided. Notice I said almost. He did some good, but not much for the average American. We gave him a chance, and the majority of voting Americans deemed a change was needed.
So give Biden a chance. If he fails, vote him out in four years. It is called the democratic process that the United States and its Constitution are built on. Trump lost the election. Let’s move forward.
