Letter to the editor: We must continue aid to Ukraine, Israel

I can’t believe it’s happening! Aid to Ukraine and Israel is being held up by Republicans in the House of Representatives who object to aiding our allies fighting Russian aggression and Hamas terrorism. I did not think I would see the day when so many Americans, especially Republicans, would side with our sworn enemies or adversaries. Utterly incomprehensible!

Republicans basically object to the cost of this aid. Yet these same said nothing when under President Trump a hole was blown in the budget granting huge tax cuts to the wealthy and costing the Treasury dearly. Saving money was no objective then when pockets were being lined.

In both Ukraine and Israel, the people are willing to fight and shed their own blood for freedom, asking not a drop of American blood but only the necessary aid to defend themselves.

Ukraine alone will soon run out of the aid needed to hold off the Russians and to turn our backs on them will be one of our darkest hours, one that will haunt us forever. And if you agree, don’t just read this but call your representatives and demand that the aid be released from Congress. Too many lives depend on our response.
