Regarding the article “Prosecutors ask for ‘Pink Hat Lady’ charged in Capitol riots to be placed on electronic monitoring” (Sept. 19, TribLIVE): This makes one undeniable statement. All of these people are products of malignant self-aggrandizement deceptions that they’ve fed themselves, along with a very dysfunctional type of political leadership. There have already been at least two dramatic deadly cases where the perpetrators of this type of malignancy have had their own lives cut short. This doesn’t even bring into mention the trauma caused to our elected federal officials and those entrusted to protect them.

I am not a fan of when law enforcement opts to use heavyhanded tactics when more benign options would be as effective. But with these types of people and their supporters, sadly a more aggressive approach must be considered. If not, the result will be exactly the same as this pink hat lady has been exhibiting, which is snubbing their nose at societal norms and decency.
