I had the opportunity to fill in for the guy in the red suit recently, assisting Bridget Faulk and the Norwin Show Choir spreading holiday cheer to members of a women’s shelter. Faulk has carried on this worthwhile tradition started by Cheryl Walter over 11 years ago.

Each year, members of the choir fundraise so that they can spread some holiday cheer to others who are less fortunate than others. To see the eyes of the children watching the students perform just for them was heartwarming. They are encouraged to get up and dance and sing with the choir. Faulk organizes craft stations and other activities for the moms and kids to do, to take away their struggles for at least a few short hours. Each child receives many gifts from Santa, to allow them to experience the holiday season.

When asked by Santa how she was doing, she replied, “This may be the best day of my life.”

So, I ask you to settle our differences, come together again as a warm society and spread some holiday cheer, not just now but for the next 12 months and beyond. We all need it.
