Letter to the editor: We need to get back to normal
Things I’ve learned from the coronavirus:
Gov. Tom Wolf chastised Ben Roethlisberger for getting a haircut, but his hair and beard are always neatly trimmed. I heard a rumor that the governor gave his barber a waiver.
We are mandated by the governor to wear masks while in public, but the governor rarely is seen wearing one. I can’t get in the grocery store without one on.
Smithfield Foods closed several of its facilities when many employees tested positive for coronavirus. Photos in the company’s Tribune-Review ad show employees wearing white coats, rubber gloves, hair nets, face masks and plastic face shields. If they are getting sick, what chance do the rest of us have with plain cotton masks?
A few days after 9/11, sports and other activities went back to normal. Within a couple of weeks, planes were flying again. We were urged not to let terrorism alter our way of life. Today should be no different.
Sooner or later someone must get the ball rolling here in Pennsylvania with a large group gathering (Pittsburgh Steelers game?) and then determine if there is an uptick in new cases. If not, everyone should get back to normal. And the sooner the better.
