A continuing issue in Southwestern Pennsylvania is our aging population and loss of residents at a time when the situation in Afghanistan is terrible and perhaps broken beyond repair. This is an occasion for us in Pennsylvania to aid our evacuated Afghan partners and show a big welcome to new residents to our towns.

Can Westmoreland County proactively attract our allies to this area? To lose these resourceful people who supported our troops at great personal risk to New York or Virginia would be a tragedy. Indeed, to honor our own veterans and reward their service, we should provide a safe and warm welcome to their comrade families.

Let your elected representatives and charities know you can and want to contribute.
