Another election and another “shellacking” for Westmoreland Democrats. This time they managed to lose all countywide elections as well as most school board seats and local municipal seats.

The last three chairwomen have pushed a social agenda alienating the voters in this county. It’s time this party refocuses on the traditional Democratic values that built local communities like Norvelt and Penn-Craft: labor rights, affordable housing, dignity in work and vocational education.

This party needs a change in leadership, from chair down to the regional chairs.

I urge my union brethren to withhold all future donations for local races until Tara Yokopenic and Robert Recklein are removed from this party; otherwise, these unions will be wasting their member contributions supporting a party that has proven it cannot win.
