An 8.1% cost-of-living increase for county retirees and a 7.8% raise for elected officials and non-union county workers is outrageous (“Westmoreland retirees raises to cost $6.7 million in 2023,” Dec. 21, TribLIVE). How others are not outraged is beyond me.

Most of us working class people are lucky to get a 2% yearly raise in the past couple of years, and didn’t even get raises because of the pandemic. This is a crying shame. No one seems to be speaking up. It is us taxpayers footing the bill for these outrageous raises, not to mention they all get health and other insurance which I’m sure are the best that we also pay for.

Shame on you elected officials. I pray one day there’s term limits to keep this kind of nonsense out of here. Please come back to reality, commissioners; it seems like once you get elected, it’s all about you.
