Letter to the editor: Westsylvania is looking good

Tribune-Review

Westsylvania was proposed in the 1770s as our nation’s 14th state. It ran along the Allegheny Mountains from Kentucky to southwestern Pennsylvania and included all of West Virginia.

Gov. Tom Wolf has exposed his heavy-handed liberal agenda. It is time for southwest Pennsylvania residents to fulfill their destiny and secede from Pennsylvania and form Westsylvania, which would consist of everything west of Harrisburg and north of Allentown.

Philadelphia journalists have argued a case for secession from our commonwealth. Let’s help them succeed. Wolf has benefitted from the Trump economy but overspent on our state budget by $800 million. Good times are when you cut back and bad times are when you spend in regards to state and federal budgets.

Wolf shut down all of Pennsylvania, yet the vast majority of the covid-19 cases are on the eastern side of the state. Pennsylvania has the most jobless claims of any state. Wolf shut down churches and gun shops (which he later reopened on a limited basis) but left abortion clinics and medical marijuana dispensaries open.

I believe Westsylvania would have extremely low crime and lower taxes. We can grow our population by outlawing the sin of abortion and attract conservatives who want to flee the costly virus.

When Virginia and West Virginia split in 1863, the West Virginia governor spoke of unfair legislation, mountains separating the two and their people having little interaction with each other. Sound familiar? Westsylvania here we come … .
