Letter to the editor: What Biden-Harris ads should say
I have been so disappointed with the political ads presented by the Biden/Harris campaign. I hope they consider one such as this:
Universal health care — FREE. Note: We furnish your doctor and only six to eight months for an appointment.
College education/tuition — FREE.
Raise taxes by $4 trillion — $4,000,000,000,000. Note: Only on income over $400,000 for now, so we can study the scientific models of some socialist nations of Europe to develop these programs, as enumerated, circa 2019:
Germany, Britain, Italy and Greece, with income tax, VAT (value- added tax, or sales tax) and price for gasoline (with tax): Germany, 47.4%/19%/$6.04 per gallon; Britain, 47.0%/20%/$6.10 per gallon; Italy, 45.8%/20%/$6.84 per gallon; Greece, 65%/24%/$6.83 per gallon.
The renowned and brilliant Albert Einstein once stated: “Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” I often wonder if he got that from Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
As Ben Franklin was leaving Independence Hall, an elderly woman asked him what kind of government we have, and he replied that it was a representative republic, “if you can keep it.”
Oh, and let me be clear: I am not calling anyone a fool and never will; that is up to you to decide.
