Regarding James Cataldi’s letter “A pro-choice/pro-life bird dilemma” (July 24, TribLIVE) comparing abortion to destroying a robin’s nest on his property: Let’s stretch the analogy to its logical conclusion. How would Cataldi react if the choice wasn’t his?

What would his reaction be if the government came onto his property and told him that he could not do what he wanted, but what the government decided was best for him and his family? No matter the affect on his future, his finances, his other “robins,” the government would take that choice away from him. And no matter how many robins’ nests the government demands he tend, he should expect no help.

My guess is that he would welcome the help of the avian equivalent of Planned Parenthood.
