Letter to the editor: What’s wrong with our country

Some of our politicians are so stupid. It seems they would do anything to get voted in or stay in office. They mirror what the people’s value systems are. They have to get things done on their agendas, to get funds for their jurisdictions and the people who voted them in.

Our two-party system is a joke. We used to be a country of laws and the Constitution. It has become the rich party versus the poor party. None of the problems gets solved. We add more debt to our national debt without worrying it could end really quickly just by getting rid of our currency being the world currency.

A flat tax for everybody and companies would help pay down our debts. Live within our means. Produce more goods here instead of giving it to China. Get rid of the caps on Social Security and Medicare on the employee side of the equation. And don’t touch those funds other than for retirement.

Gerrymandering, political funding and voter suppression used to be dealt with fairly. Abortion and the Second Amendment are issues that will never change. Outlaw abortions, then build costly orphanages to take care of unwanted babies. Nobody needs an assault weapon.

Lastly, go get a job. No work, no eat. Welfare should be a temporary thing, not a lifetime gift or a reason to get pregnant. Social Security should be only for the retired and disabled.

But we are sissies. It’s too hard to do that.
