Watching the latest episode of the city government failing yet again, this time involving the sudden departure of the acting police chief (“Leadership vacuum: Ragland withdraws as Pittsburgh police chief candidate plans to retire,” March 4, TribLive), eerily reminds me of watching a high school-themed comedy from the 1980s: the silliness and immaturity would be funny if it weren’t so very real and absolutely depressing, with big-time ramifications and consequences for our beloved city of Pittsburgh.
It is beyond clear that this administration is abysmal in its preparation and execution of simple tasks. Similar to juveniles full of hormones, anxiety and mood swings, this administration continuously makes terrible decisions and bad course-corrections and then blames everyone but themselves. It is crystal clear to everyone on the periphery that this situation may sink our city, but the voters will still vote to bring in the exact same type of administration, fulfilling the old adage of insanity: doing the exact same thing repeatedly, expecting different results.
Are there any adult voters left in the city that can change this?
