Regarding the article “Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto ending self- quarantine” (March 24, TribLIVE): Why is it that Peduto can emerge from his covid-19 self-quarantine and get back to work at his office? He had said that he was able to work from home, but now needs to violate the stay-at-home order imposed on Allegheny County. Stay home, Bill. It’s supposed to be an order, not a choice.

Gov. Tom Wolf ordered indoor facilities at Pennsylvania rest areas to be shut down, with portable toilets offered instead, until the trucking industry raised its hackles. I don’t know about you, Tom, but I’m going to relieve myself behind the nearest tree before I would enter one of those germ-infested things. He did reverse that insanity, reopening a number of facilities. He initially closed laundromats but left beer distributors open. He recognized that he messed up on that one, too, and allowed laundromats to reopen.

Liquor stores had record sales when he announced a shutdown. What did he expect? He closed the bars and clubs and left owners and employees with no way to make their way. But liquor store employees continue to be paid.

No thanks, “leaders” — I prefer to use my own common sense.
