“Shame, shame, shame,” Gomer Pyle would spurt when someone behaved inappropriately. It was fiction. It was funny.

“How do you live with yourself?” the fireman asked George Constanza after George had run over women and children to escape an apartment fire. It was fiction. It was funny.

“Shame, shame, shame. How do you live with yourselves?” That’s what anyone with a conscience should ask the 41 U.S. senators who prevented passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act — which would have required proper medical care for infants who survive abortion. This is fact, not fiction. And there’s nothing funny about this. These are infants born alive — undeniably, indisputably, they are live human beings. God help them. God help us.
