Letter to the editor: Which generation started our disrespect for family, country?

It’s called, “The Silent Generation,” my generation, born between 1928 and 1945.

We rode our bicycles to each other’s houses, used our 50 cents to buy ice cream at Dairy Queen and played outside all day and came back home “before dark,” like my Mom and Dad said to be home. Mom and Dad trusted me to be home when they said to be home, and I respected them enough to make sure to be home.

The Baby Boomer generation was born between 1946 and 1964. It was a baby boom with over 3 million babies born in 1946! The Boomers were known to start riots, boycotts and protests for civil rights. Was this the beginning of showing disrespect for family and country?

The Generation X years were from 1965 to 1980. The Gen Xers were keen to show honesty and responsibility and were more peer-oriented. However, they have been characterized as being skeptical and distrusting of authority. Was this the beginning of showing disrespect for family and country?

When did we fall into the devil’s hands? When did we lose respect for our fellow man? When did we stop going to church to hear God’s word?

2 Thessalonians 16: “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”
