You can always tell what the Democrats are guilty of by what they accuse Republicans of doing. In his letter “GOP’s desperate actions” (Jan. 5, TribLIVE), Robert J. Reiland states: “Our Republicans in office have become so drunk on power that they no longer value the nation or the Constitution.”

The opposite is true. Democrats are drunk with power; Democratic governors and mayors act as dictators, mandating behavior and destroying the lives of working people with unconstitutional restrictions.

Furthermore, he gives phony examples of Republican abuse of power in seeking to require voter ID and attempting to stop states from making it easier to vote (by mail-in). Republican voter ID initiatives are responsible attempts to stop voter fraud. Voting isn’t made more accessible when some vote multiple times or ineligibles vote using mail-in ballots. They dilute the franchise of legitimate voters.

It is those on the political left in government, media, business and academia who, drunk with power, have intimidated judges and Republican officials to silence them.
