Letter to the editor: While policies matter, personality does, too

Regarding the presidential election, a recent letter-writer stated that personality doesn’t matter, policies do. I disagree. Personal character is very important. I want a president who has the strength to listen to a variety of voices and think through changing circumstances. I want a president who values public service and the rule of law.

I do not want a president who gets vindictive when people disagree. I do not want a president who values a public image more than the public good. Policies can change, as they should in changing circumstances. No presidential candidate can deliver on everything they promise. I base my vote on the personality and character of the candidate.
