Every now and again the subject of reparations comes up, but it just isn’t right. If there are any slaves alive here in the USA, pay them. If not, why should we pay anyone who never suffered as a slave? Remember also that Black people in Africa sold other Black people into slavery.
Remember this too. We stole this country from the Native Americans, destroyed their entire way of life, ruined their economy, exposed their men, women and children to diseases for which they had no immunity, knowledge or remedy, fought them with weapons far above their defensive ability and herded them like livestock onto reservations that we wouldn’t have used for livestock. They respected the land, and we sing about “America the Beautiful” and throw trash everywhere.
Now who deserves what?
