Letter to the editor: Why Americans support Trump
Shame on letter-writer Anthony Cortazzo Jr. (“Reasons for Trump support,” March 12, TribLIVE). He states as “possible reasons” certain voters support Trump is that they are “deaf, intellectually disabled and blind.” This is hate speech. How does name-calling solve anything?
I think this is discrimination. The Americans with Disabilities Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act were created to protect children and adults with disabilities from exclusion and unequal treatment in schools, jobs and the community. I work for an agency that provides services for children and adults with many disability diagnoses. This is offensive to my work community, parents and families with members who have autism and other disabilities.
Americans need to communicate and come together as one, especially during this pandemic. So many small businesses and entertainers are donating food, providing online entertainment and making monetary donations to help support our communities. Learning to understand each others’ points of view is definitely more productive than name-calling.
Trump supporters are hard- working, giving, caring patriots. They love their families, country and God.
Trump donates all of his salary to many great causes such as the Departments of Education, Health and Veterans Affairs.
Keep America great, and thank you for your leadership, President Trump — four more years.
