Letter to the editor: Why are followers still worshipping Trump?

How did President Trump become the spiritual leader of the Republican Party and his followers? They believe Trump was doing something for them, but, in my opinion, he was really doing something for himself.

It didn’t matter that Trump’s continual lies about the election spurred the Capitol riots and cost lives. These people thought they were part of something special. They did Trump’s dirty work, and they are the ones who will go to jail.

They don’t seem to care that his handling of the virus may have caused a lot of people to die unnecessarily.

The very rich got all the tax breaks and pardons because they have influential money. It doesn’t matter to them that most Americans pay more of a percentage of taxes than Trump.

Abortions, guns and evangelicals are just sucker votes for Trump. Don’t they understand that, to him, winning is everything — winning in any way?

His followers worship him like a god and see nothing wrong in anything Trump did. Maybe they forgot what their parents taught them, and what the church, the Bible, and God and Jesus mean.

Who is going to save us now? From massive debts and global warming? We brought it on ourselves.
