Letter to the editor: Why do evangelicals support un-Christian Trump?

Tribune-Review

I have never understood the wide-ranging and deep support given to Donald Trump by evangelical Christians and their ilk. Trump is most decidedly UN-Christian.

He is not religious; he doesn’t go to church. Furthermore, in an April 2016 interview, Trump could not quote one Bible verse — not one!

Mainly, Trump’s character is very un-Christian. Twice-divorced, he is openly unfaithful to his wives. He lies (the fact-checkers at the conservative Washington Post tallied 30,573 lies by Trump while president — more than 20 a day). He ran casinos. He sold a Trump-branded liquor. He is dishonest in business. He incites violence — like the horrible Jan. 6 riot, or his endless calls for “bloodshed” and “riots” if he doesn’t get his way. Trump is a convicted felon. I could go on and on and on.

Clearly Trump is not Christian and has no interest in Christianity unless it gives him more power. So why do evangelical Christians love Trump?

While reading the Bible, I came to understand this. Revelation 13:3, King James Version: “And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” The Antichrist!
