The letter “Finland, Norway more attractive than U.S.” (Feb. 25, TribLive) has the tone of someone thinking they’d be better off living in Finland or Norway. If that’s truly how you feel, maybe start a GoFundMe account and have your socialist friends and family donate so you can afford to move there.

Or, as professor Ahmed Samatar of St. Paul’s Macalaster College was quoted as saying in a 2025 Washington Times story, Minnesota is “the closest thing in the United States to a true social democratic state.” Maybe living there you’ll be fulfilled. Better yet, try adopting the attitude the U.S. men’s hockey team has: “I love the United States. I am so proud to be an American.”

Look around. The contributions the United States has made to the world are immeasurable. If you haven’t noticed, millions of people are risking their lives to come to this “awful” country. Something better must be drawing them here.
