Letter to the editor: Why is Trump catering to a dictator?

President Trump’s idea of diplomacy seems to be to cater to the wishes of the most dangerous dictator in the free world in Vladimir Putin. And I think he does so because he’s utterly afraid of him.

President Biden never showed any fear of Putin. He was always tough when dealing with him, and he called him a dictator. Something Trump can’t do. Trump has the audacity to call Volodymyr Zelenskyy a dictator and the one who started the war. You got to be kidding me.

It seems Trump can’t help Kyiv with military might because he has to have Pete Hegseth (who in my opinion couldn’t lead a Boy Scout troop) send 3,000 active-duty troops to the U.S.-Mexico border with a Stryker brigade combat team to battle illegal immigrants. Whoa, what a tough guy, that Trump! He’ll probably send Elon Musk down there with a chainsaw.

Republicans like Marco Rubio have the temerity to tell the American people that the natural minerals deal is good for Ukraine, because if we were mining for minerals in Ukraine, America would have a vested interest in the country and wouldn’t let Russia invade them. Do you honestly think Putin wouldn’t attack Ukraine if Trump is mining for minerals?
