Letter to the editor: Why people don't like Trump

I believe people don’t like Donald Trump because he lacks certain qualities: He has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honor and no grace. While Trump may be laughable, I doubt he has ever said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing, not once, ever.

He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is. I guess his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult or a casual act of cruelty. I have never seen him being funny, or laughing, only crowing or jeering. He doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults, he seems to actually think in them, his mind just a simple set of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness. I see no complexity, nuance or depth, just a spoiled narcissistic rich-boy, a greedy fat-cat and a vulgarian with pretentions of good breeding, prominence and wealth.

But worst of all, to me, he is just a bully who likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless, and he kicks them when they are down.

The sad fact is that many in this country like these qualities. When Trump was president he surrounded himself with people he thought were the wisest, smartest people in America. Most of these people ended up disliking him and probably won’t vote for him. I assume his three wives even married him just for his money.

Trump’s Rikers Island orange jumpsuit will be size 44XL.
