Letter to the editor: Why the poor grammar from professionals?

Tribune-Review

Turn on your TV or radio and listen to the “professional” broadcast journalists. Whether it’s the local news or sports talk shows, the lack of knowledge of English grammar and pronunciation is disturbing. I don’t know if it’s a Pittsburgh thing, but so many add an “h” to words beginning with “str,” making it “shtr,” such as shtreet, shtrict, conshtruction, shtruggling, etc.

Also, they don’t know when to use “I” or “me.” For example, “Send your responses to John and I.” Then they’ll say something like, “Me and my son went to see that game last night.” It drives an old man crazy. These are supposed to be college graduates! I imagine the rest of their education is similarly lacking.
