The writer of the letter “Why Trump was a great president” (March 7, TribLIVE) asked writers who argue that Donald Trump was the worst president need to be more specific in their reasoning. Here are some facts on why he wasn’t a great president.

Putin and Ukraine: Putin was clearly hoping for a second Trump term to more easily invade Ukraine. To Sean Hannity, Trump claimed he could have prevented the war by negotiating a deal with Russia, which included giving Putin control over parts of Ukraine.

North Korea: During Trump’s administration, Kim Jong-Un fired missiles. North Korea fired 23 missiles in 2017, 27 in 2019 and nine in 2020.

Inflation and gas prices: Producers and oil manufacturers are still producing a lower, pandemic amount of product but selling it at a higher price to make a larger profit. Trump’s Republican Party doesn’t want regulation between government and businesses. President Biden can’t regulate producers or oil companies to return to pre-pandemic low prices. This leads to current inflationary prices.

People need to stop watching the talking heads on Fox News and discover how decisions Trump made in his presidency, especially during the pandemic, have led to the situations they complain about now.
