The pre-election ads are flooding our mailboxes, and much of it has left me wondering. Why won’t candidates state only what their plans are to better our economy, our society, our educational and health care systems? Tell us what you expect to accomplish in creating jobs, decreasing the welfare state, improving our infrastructure, stopping drug and sex trafficking, improving our environment, and supporting our police.
These are a just a few things that concern most citizens. Instead, many candidates use their ads to tell us what terrible, unqualified people the opposition is. Is it any wonder fewer people are showing up at the polls if they believe half this negativity?
Candidates, tell us your relevant education, work history and experiences that qualify you for the office you wish to hold. Inform us about your views on how our taxes are being used and how to run our government more efficiently and effectively. This will help your constituents make better choices to benefit all of us.
