I am writing in support of Cheryl Peck Yakopec being reelected as district judge. She has been my judge for over 25 years, and I believe she should stay my judge.

When my poodle was attacked by a neighbor’s pitbull, I had a hearing in front of Yakopec, and she was patient, kind and understanding. It was my first time in court, and I did not know what to expect. She explained everything that would happen and carefully listened to all witnesses. In the end, she found in favor of me. The other dog was removed , and my dog is not afraid to walk out of the house any more.

I have always felt that Yakopec is responsible for keeping my dog alive. She is fair, honest and compassionate, and she knows all areas of the law. Why would I vote against a judge who has been in office for over 25 years, in favor of someone who has never been a judge?
