Sounding off: Wolf and Levine should be prosecuted
Regarding the article “Brighton Rehab residents, families outraged by lax oversight during outbreak”: This was what I hope is a first on this subject. Gov. Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine seem to have ignored problems since elected and appointed.
When covid-19 started and other states increased investigation of nursing homes, did they simply decide to call them on the telephone and ask, “Are you doing it right?”
Our nursing homes were the epicenter of the whole country’s covid-19 cases, but our state officials, in my opinion, decided that, hey this is a chance to get votes.
It isn’t the president’s fault we ignored this issue for years. The journalists covered this story well, and I hope they continue on it.
Wolf authorized the “commandeering” of masks, then said everyone needs to wear them. This duo allowed our most-likely-to-be-infected citizens to die. They required infected patients to be placed with weakened immune deficiency people. They need to be prosecuted.
Wolf should not be reelected. To this day, he stands by Levine, saying she is a “beacon.” How many people should be allowed to die in what I see as his desperate attempt to get elected to other offices?

Trump and the post office’s problems
Did anyone in Congress ever ask you if you wanted your tax dollars used to subsidize the United States Postal Service? Do you know that when your tax dollars subsidize the USPS, you are subsidizing Amazon and other companies that use the USPS for unrealistically cheap delivery rates?
Fact: There is a real management problem at the USPS and has been for years. I believe that is why it continues to lose money.
What does President Trump want to do about the problem? Simply put, he wants to fix the problem and make the USPS profitable, like UPS and FedEx.
What is wrong with his objective? Does House Speaker Nancy Pelosi not want to fix the problem? In my opinion, she has no interest in fixing the USPS and only wants to fund mail-in balloting.
What is really happening here that the media will never cover?
I believe Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer are using the USPS as a tool to fool you and introduce turmoil into the upcoming election.
We have enough election problems; mail-in voting will only introduce more corruption.
Value your vote, vote in person.

Shame on Norwin School Board
Bob Wayman said you should keep driving through a Black Lives Matter protest because they’re just “racist, communist thugs” (“Norwin director ripped over controversial posts; some call for resignation.” Bob Wayman said we should resort to armed combat to keep President Trump in office. Bob Wayman referred to Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine as an “it” because he doesn’t agree with her. Bob Wayman said covid-19 is a hoax.
Bob Wayman continues to sit on the Norwin School Board. He is part of the decision-making process for over 5,000 students to safely return to school. He is part of the decision-making process for students who organized a peaceful BLM protest this summer. He is part of the decision-making process for students who are LGBTQ.
The district solicitor says the board has no grounds to remove a member unless it is for lack of attendance to board meetings. The board also has a policy that board members will adhere to principles that include leading responsibly and acting ethically. The board has a policy that its members first be of “good moral character.”
The Norwin School Board is sitting idly by while Bob Wayman spews hate and lies from a position of power and influence. Shame on them.

What sane leader would want to defund police?
Edward D. Roberts, known to his friends as Ned, was the police chief of Murrysville for many years. About 25 years ago, he and I were discussing the importance of local police departments when he said, “Police are the thin line between anarchy and a civilized society.”
While Roberts passed away years ago, his wise words have not. Over the years, I have thought many times of what he said that day, especially since anarchy has started rearing its destructive head in many of our great cities across America. I look at these burning cities, which are overwhelmingly run by Democrats, and wonder why these cities are adopting one of the mantras of the useful idiots who are doing the destruction, “defund the police.”
I ask, what sane, rational community leader would ever want to eliminate the one protection that American citizens have to protect them and their property from these anarchists? It is impossible to comprehend, other than these community leaders want to destroy America, the greatest nation to ever exist in the history of mankind, burn it to the ground and start anew with what they fantasize as a Godless utopian Marxist third-world gulag.

How can veterans support Trump?
In reference to Ken Bossart’s letter “Civility lost in political disagreement”: I would never choose to call you a name if I disagreed with you. I would commend you for your service. But what I can never understand is a veteran supporting a “draft dodger.” Or whatever a person is called who avoids the draft.

Listen to the medical experts
Regarding Russell Fenton’s letter “We must keep Trump to keep our freedom”: B-a-a-a-a! I am a proud member of the “Sheep Party.” I am happy that I am intelligent enough to listen to scientists and medical experts.
Perhaps Fenton is a member of the “Lemming Party” that follows President Trump to the edge of the cliff and over. Or is it the “Ostrich Party,” whose members bury their heads in the sand and refuse to face reality?
Nobody likes this pandemic. I believe we would be in a much better situation if we had better leadership, if our president had led from the beginning. Trump was warned well before the situation became serious. Instead, he became an ostrich, and things got deadly. Bars, restaurants and other businesses probably would be near 100% operational.
Statistics show that America has 4% of the world population, yet has about 25% of the world’s covid-19 cases and deaths. Do you think covid-19 is like the flu? The flu has a death rate below 0.1% ; covid-19 has a death rate of 3-4%. This is an improvement, as at one time it was over 5%. Treatments have improved, and not by injecting disinfectant.
Trump recently bragged that he is responsible for sending increased supplies of protective equipment to fight the virus. I’m happy about that, but it’s like painting a house while it’s burning inside.
Don’t be a lemming or an ostrich. Listen to science and medical experts.

Biden, Harris on abortion, marriage
God tells us, “Judgment is mine says the Lord!” He is talking about the judgment at death when the soul is either saved or damned. We must make judgments every day when we associate with new people that we don’t yet have an opinion of.
In November, we will cast our votes for people who are mostly strangers to us, so we must be careful on how we “judge” them. I am going to base my vote on the “faith,” or lack of it, of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Both claim to belong to established and respected denominations — Biden a Catholic, Harris a Baptist.
Both of these faiths are “pro life” and are against abortion. Biden and Harris are steadfast in their stance on abortion on demand even when the child is viable and ready to be born. Biden has been denied holy communion because of his abortion stance. I believe both will be the greatest supporters of no restrictions on abortion. That could increase the number of abortions to over 1 million every year.
Both faiths proclaim that holy matrimony is a church rite between a man and a woman, but Biden and Harris are supporters of gay and lesbian marriages. Man and man and woman and woman cannot be fruitful and multiply.
If you cannot be true to the faith you say you believe in, how can you be faithful to the oath you take to serve us? In God we trust; one nation under God. God bless America.
