The NFL announced its annual Performance-Based Pay recipients, and two Pittsburgh Steelers were near the top of the list.
Steelers guard Mason McCormick and linebacker Payton Wilson were among the players who received the most additional money for the 2025 season. McCormick got an extra $1.17 million in supplemental pay. Wilson earned another $1.1 million.
The Performance-Based Pay program was established in 2002 and compensates all players based on a formula that measures playing time and salary. In total, NFL players received more than $542 million in combined supplemental pay for last season.
For the first time, at least 25 players earned more than $1 million in supplemental pay. The program is part of the collective bargaining agreement between the league and players’ association.
Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright topped the list this year by earning an additional $1.44 million. McCormick’s amount ranked eighth highest, and Wilson’s was 14th.
Both Steelers are two-year veterans.
McCormick played 100% of the team’s offensive snaps last season. His salary was $968,820, according to Spotrac.com.
Wilson played 63% of defensive snaps and 74% of special teams plays. His contract was worth $1.06 million.
