Runners participate in the 2019 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.

The 2022 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon will be held Sunday morning in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Here are some interesting facts and figures about the race:

Fastest times

Men’s full marathon record: John Kagwe, 2:10.24, 1995

Women’s full marathon record: Margaret Groos, 2:29.50, 1988

Men’s half-marathon: Leonard Korir, 1:01.53, 2019

Women’s half-marathon: Aliphine Tuliamuk, 1:10.04, 2018

Did you know?

• $14 million has been raised for charity since 2009.

• The oldest runner in the field is 86 and will take part in the Pittsburgh 5K.

• The youngest is 11 months and will be in the Pittsburgh Toddler Trot.

• There are more than 30 official charities connected to the Pittsburgh Marathon.

• The races will weave through 14 city neighborhoods, cross three bridges, and move past 12 Pittsburgh landmarks and four Pittsburgh sports venues.

• Competitors will combine to log more than 306,750 miles.

• Pittsburgh is one of the 20 largest marathons and half marathons in the U.S., according to Running USA.

• Fifteen running clubs are coming to race in Pittsburgh as part of the Running Club Rally.

• P3R this year has introduced the Open Division to welcome athletes of any gender or gender expression, and placement awards will be given for first through 10th place in the marathon and half-marathon and for first through fifth place in the 5K.

• More than a quarter of all half-marathon participants are running their first-ever half marathon.

• More than a third of all full marathon participants are running their first-ever full marathon.

• The Campus Challenge will feature students representing 20 local colleges and universities.

• The Kids of Steel program will feature students from more than 200 schools and organizations who are recording 26.2 miles. More than 6,000 are running the last mile of their goal during the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon on Saturday.

• More than 300,000 spectators are expected to be at the start, finish and also line the course.
